Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning 'Union' as in community

I believe the 'union' is between Mind and Body.

Yoga is a practice of breath and balance.

By consciously focusing only on your breathing

you become one with the moment. You can not  think about what you did or have to do, It takes absolute concentration.

Yoga is largely breathing and being in the present.

The poses, however the degree of difficultly, require one to focus on the breath then the pose.

You must breathe.  When you lose the breath you lose the moment and the balance.

Breathe in through the nose and exhale through the nose

.

The 'Yoga Poses"  are isometric exercises. Isometric exercise or isometrics are a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction. Isometrics are done in static positions, rather than being dynamic through a range of motion.

Every exercise you do involves some sort of muscle contraction. Exercises with movement involve isotonic muscle contractions and exercises without movement involve isometric muscular contractions. Knowing the difference between these two different types of contractions can help you refine your workout routine, make the most of each exercise and get a comprehensive workout.

Isometric muscle contractions do not involve any movement. An isometric contraction occurs when your muscles push against a fixed resistance and no joint or body movement occurs. Even though there is no movement, your muscles are still working and contracting. If you are going to include isometric contractions in your workout, don't push too hard. Isometric contractions can significantly increase blood pressure, so don't hold your breath when doing these exercises and give yourself plenty of breaks.

You can do isometric exercises in two different ways: By trying to move something that is too heavy for you to move or by holding static exercise poses. The second method includes plank holds, squat holds, side planks, abdominal holds, lunge holds and any other motionless exercise. Rather than counting repetitions, isometric exercises involve holding the position for a given amount of time, such as 30 seconds.

Isotonic  exercise builds muscle by wearing down the muscle and tearing tissue so it rebuilds to become larger. That is the 'No Pain No Gain,' school of thought.

Isometrics is "No strain No Pain."

Yoga says 'Pain" is the body telling you that you are injuring this area and please stop immediately.

Yoga is not a competition or a race. It is time for you to spend with yourself making your mind relax and challenge your focusing power on holding certain poses.

Over time you will improve your balance and awareness of this present moment. Your body will strengthen and your thoughts will slow down as breathing will relax you and you will change, for the better.

As you become healthier you will become happier.

Most everyone wants to be happy but if you are unhealthy that will more than likely interfere.

The old saying ,"Health is Wealth," is absolutely true.

All the money in the world won't make you happy if you can not live a life do to health limitations.

The "Healthy" Foods That Are Killing You with Dr Steven Gundry and Lewis Howes

Try to stay away from sugar as it feeds cancer cells. Stay Alkaline, cancer can not live in that environment.

Eat plenty of fruits as an excellent source of pure water and as a source of hydration and ATP to all the cells.

As excessive intake of added sugar is harmful and fruits are relatively high in sugar it is often questioned whether fruits are actually healthy food. It is in fact difficult to get excessive amounts of sugar (e. g. fructose) from fruits as they also contain fibers, water and have significant chewing resistance. An overview on numerous studies can be found here.[34] Studies show that fruits are very satisfying (for example apples or oranges).[35] In addition, the fibres contained in fruits promote satiety[36] and help lose weight[37] and have cholesterol-lowering effects.[38]

Fresh fruits are generally high in fiber, vitamin C, and water.[39]

Regular consumption of fruit is generally associated with reduced risks of several diseases and functional declines associated with aging.[40][41] A current review of meta-analyses even comes to the conclusion that current assessments might even significantly underestimate the protective associations of fruit and vegetable intakes.[

Ommm. It's often the first and last sound in your ears in a yoga class. But what does it mean? Perhaps you've heard it defined as "the sound of the universe" -- but what does that really mean?
